Well, how amazing. The Conservatives have 160 MP’s more than Labour and an overall majority of 80 MP’s.
That’s the largest majority since Margaret Thatcher………………..
I had expected that Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn would be very close after this election and we would then go through a highly complex process to determine the structure of the Parliament and possibly a changed leadership. Thank goodness that is not necessary, and the Parliamentary leadership is very clear. The most complex problem is probably Scotland as the SNP have won nearly all the seats……………….
I am very sure Boris will take us out of the EU on or before 31st January as he now has the moral and political authority to deliver a Brexit that has a good economic partnership with the EU and protects British jobs and businesses.
During the election process I have been very disappointed at the very poor quality of journalism and TV interviews – very aggressive and often very biased – something we need to sort going forward.
During the last few months journalism and TV has focussed on the very large split in the population passions – do we stay or leave the EU has been the main issue with the desperate need to invest in issues like our NHS, education, technology, and benefits – both parties addressed these issues but Corbyn and his team were so far left and were proposing borrowing huge amounts to pay for these items and to nationalise many of our assets.
Although I have been an enthusiast about many of the benefits of our EU membership, I can clearly understand why so many people are against. Too many items of the EU have been unbeneficial and disorganised leading to a significant focus on our leaving.
I firmly believe now that it is critical for the population to unite behind Boris and to ensure that as a country we get better and address many of the issues facing us – I hope now we leave the EU rapidly, strike a trading deal with the EU, develop trade deals throughout the world and develop an immigration system (probably similar to the Australian system) which will permit and encourage the best people we need to come here. Investing in our NHS is very critical, and I believe will be done.
So there we are – need to watch what happens. Trumpster has his usual wacky views – I think he is getting worse and I think Boris will run rings around him – much cleverer in my opinion……………………
We shall see and it will be very interesting to watch what happens………….
Just to confirm, I am not a member of any political party
